HR WC Representative

Job Description:

Workers Compensation: Responsible for reporting, investigation, and analysis; resolution/outcome and the delivery of claims information. Responsible for maintaining employee injury files: including but not limited to creating and updating electronic files, scan injury reports into personnel files.  Maintains close communication with medical providers providing services for injured employees and serves as the liaison between medical providers, injured employees, claims adjuster, and employee Supervisors. Determines actual time missed from work due to work related injuries and illnesses and provides accurate information to meet OSHA record-keeping requirements. Investigate incidents, analyzing viability and risk and providing solutions to minimize exposure. Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work related injuries, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices. Assist with development of an Injury Prevention Program (IPP) to protect workers from job hazards and manages an early Return to Work program. Safety: Manage monthly store safety meetings including topics, sending out communications, updating safety documents to ensure compliance and following up with managers on pending trainings Review Workers’ Compensation cases to ensure safety policies and procedures were followed and provide guidance as needed Work with managers on fostering an environment of safety; Human Resources: Act as back up to Human Resources responding to employee inquiries and forwarding to applicable team member as needed. Act as back up to employment verification processes Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required Skills/Abilities: Working knowledge of medical terminology, body systems and/or impairments and their disabling effects. Working knowledge of office procedures and files. Ability to obtain facts that ensure that claims information is complete and accurate. Ability to balance casework loads and efficiently process claims. Ability to evaluate all medical and time-loss claims information. Good judgment in interpreting medical facts presented by a physician and applying these facts in determining an individual's capacity to engage in gainful occupation. Ability to read, assimilate and recall with marked proficiency facts, figures and descriptions, and to search for and obtain information. Effective communication skills. Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with co-workers, the general public and other agency personnel. Working knowledge of the tenets of supervision and motivation of employees.  Education and Experience: Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of 2 years of college with courses in medical terminology and anatomy and 1 year of experience in medical claims analysis or any equivalent combination of training and experience.  Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
